SafeCloud stands out in 2016 Web Summit

The SafeCloud business idea was on display at the 2016 Web Summit, one of the largest fairs of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. With a mobile application focused on ensuring maximum privacy of all uploaded photos, SafeCloud was highlighted by Observador as one of the top five business ideas of this year's Web Summit.

SafeCloud Photos is a mobile application aimed at making data in the cloud inviolable by ensuring maximum security of current cloud computing services, regardless of the owner of the servers and computers where the information is stored.

This mobile photo application is currently the safest on the market and was developed by a team of researchers from HASLab - an integrated R&D centre of INESC TEC. According to Francisco Maia, one of the researchers responsible for SafeCloud, the mobile application SafeCloud Photos "offers at this moment a level of security that no other application on the market can offer, and aims to change the way data is stored in the cloud." So far, the mobile application is only for photo storage; however, "the app will soon be able to save documents too," said Francisco Maia.

It is worth mentioning that SafeCloud emerged alongside the European project SafeCloud (Secure and Resilient Cloud Architecture), which was also coordinated by the High-Assurance Software Laboratory (HASLab).
