Computer Science without Borders is the name of the activity mainly organised by HASLab researchers that promote the areas of Informatics and Computer Science at the 9th edition of the Summer on Campus of the University of Minho. 24 vacancies, 24 registered.
Every year secondary school students are encouraged to participate in the analysis of problems, in their abstract modelling and in the construction of algorithmic solutions. Thus, students experience the exciting task of programming a computer to solve complex problems, while establishing contact with the educational offer of the Department of Informatics of the University of Minho.
The 24 participants in the Computer Science without Borders, from various secondary schools of the North of Portugal, had the opportunity to start the week with the visual programming language Construct, which allows you to create interactive web games.
Throughout the week, students will be faced with a number of increasingly complex problems, such as the Towers of Hanoi, which should be implemented in various programming languages, namely in Construct and Haskell.
Students will also observe the operation of multiple calculating machines from the 50s-60s and see how they converted into software, as well as participate in an awareness-raising action on the security of information on the web.
